Oredigger XC Opens Season At CSU Open

FORT COLLINS – The Colorado School of Mines cross country squads opened up their season action on Friday at the Colorado State Open, held at CSU's Hughes Stadium in Fort Collins.

No team scores were kept, but the tuneup against all NCAA Division I foes proved to be a good barometer of the team's early-season fitness level.

On the women's side, Hannah Schuster paced the Oredigger squad with a time of 19:00.1 to finish 12th overall, while Chloe Gustafson followed closely behind with a time of  19:10.9 to finish in 15th overall.

Marie Patton was the next Mines finisher with a time of 19:38.5 to finish in a 22nd overall.

On the men's side, Sean Gildea and Phil Schneider finished 1-2 to pace the entire 69-person field with times of 15:19.5 and 15:27.9, respectively.
Adam Bodnar finished seventh with a time of 15:40.5 and Tyler Curtis and Marty Andrie finished in ninth and 10th, respectively, with times of 15:47.8 and 15:50.7.

The squad will next be in action on September 15 when they take part in the Woody Greeno Invite in Lincoln, Neb.
