Men win UCCS Rust Buster Invite, women finish second; Laws and Zywicki post first-place finishes

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.- The Colorado School of Mines cross country teams opened the 2009 season at the UCCS Rust Buster Invite at Monument Valley Park in Colorado Springs. The CSM men won the team title while the Oredigger women posted a runner-up finish.
On the men's side, four runners finished in the top ten. CSM was led by Pre-Season All-RMAC pick Ben Zywicki (19:08.36) who won the race. Nate Hatleback finished fifth while Aaron Swift placed ninth and Adam Bodnar posted a tenth-place finish.
The CSM women had two of the top three finishers in the meet. The Orediggers were lead by Pre-Season All-RMAC selection Sydney Laws, who won the race in a time of 14:53.72. Marie Patton finished third and Hannah Cooling placed 12th overall.
The Orediggers will compete at the Woody Greeno Invitational hosted by the University of Nebraska on Saturday, September 19th in Lincoln, Nebraska.
