CSM men finish third, women take fourth at RMAC Championships

DENVER, Colo. – The Colorado School of
Mines cross country teams competed in the 2009 Rocky Mountain
Athletic Conference (RMAC) Championships this morning at Washington
Park in Denver, Colo. hosted by the Metropolitan State College of
Denver. The CSM men placed third out of 11 RMAC schools while the
women finished fourth out of 13 RMAC schools.
The Oredigger men were led by Aaron Swift who finished 13th (26:16)
out of 84 total runners in the 8 k race and earned Second Team
All-RMAC honors. True freshman Sean Gildea finished 19th-overall
(26:35) earning Third Team All-RMAC accolades. Mack McLain earned
Third Team All-RMAC honors as he finished in 21st-place
(26:43).
Sydney Laws led the CSM women with her fourth consecutive top-ten
finish of the 2009 season placing seventh overall out of 99 runners
to earn First Team All-RMAC accolades. Laws’ seventh-place
finish was the highest finish by a CSM women’s runner at the
RMAC Championships. Marie Patton (18th, 24:08) and Hannah Cooling
(19th, 24:09) finished one second apart in the 6 k race as both
were named Third Team All-RMAC.
The Orediggers will compete at the 2009 NCAA Division II Central
Region Championships on Saturday, Nov. 7th in Wayne, Neb.
