No. 21 Volleyball Sweeps No. 9 Angelo State, 3-0
DENVER – The No. 21 Colorado School of Mines volleyball squad rebounded from a pair of setbacks on Friday to hand No. 9 Angelo State a 3-0 defeat as part of the Colorado Premier tournament at the Regis Fieldhouse in Denver on Saturday afternoon.
Mines (5-2) took the win behind game scores of 25-19, 25-23 and 25-22, including attack percentages more than .300 in games one and three.
Senior Jackie Stabell once again led the squad with 15 kills on a .371 attack percentage while also adding seven digs defensively. Junior Melanie Wannamaker followed with eight kills while adding four blocks on the defensive side and Laura Beckmann posted a .545 attack percentage with seven kills.
Senior Betsy Hansing added three kills on four attacks, eight digs and a team-high 34 assists during the match.
Junior Hannah Margheim tied with Sarah Pekarek for the team lead with 11 digs apiece while senior Alese Madenwald finished with 10 digs.
In all, Mines posted 10 blocks, 54 digs and a team attack percentage of .222 compared to a .109 attack percentage by Angelo State.
