DENVER – The No. 21 Colorado School of Mines volleyball suffered its second-straight defeat on Friday, this time to No. 3 Tampa by a 3-0 final as part of the Colorado Premier tournament at the Regis Fieldhouse in Denver.
The Oredigggers (4-2) fell by game scores of 25-20, 25-18 and 28-26.
The third-ranked Spartans (4-1) hit a blistering .264 as a squad while adding five blocks defensively compared to a .206 attack percentage and three blocks by Mines.
Melanie Wannamaker led the Orediggers with 17 kills and a solo block on a .293 attack percentage from the middle. Holly Hutchison added eight kills, Sarah Pekarek finished with seven and Laura Beckmann added six on a .500 attack percentage.
Mines will now face No. 9 Angelo State at the Regis site at noon tomorrow in the Bronze round of the tournament.
