No. 25 Mines Moves To 4-0 With 3-0 Win Over TSU

GOLDEN –  No. 25 Colorado School of Mines limited Tarleton State to a .081 attack percentage while posting a .260 mark of its own in handing the Texanns a 3-0 loss in the finale of the Courtyard and Residence Inn by Marriott Oredigger Volleyball Classic at Lockridge Arena in Golden on Saturday.

Mines (4-0) ended the tournament as the only unbeaten squad in the eight-team field behind game scores of 25-20, 25-17 and 25-18.

The TSU (2-2) offense was stifled by the Orediggers' great frontline defense that racked up nine blocks during the match. 

Jackie Stabell once again led the offense with 11 kills while adding three assisted blocks and six digs on the defensive side. Laura Beckmann added nine kills with a .600 attack percentage and Holly Hutchison led the squad with five assisted blocks and added seven kills offensively.

Danielle Johnson-Hazlewood dished out 33 assists during the match while adding two digs and three assisted blocks and one of the solo variety. 

The Orediggers will look to keep the hot streak going on Friday when they make the short trek east to take part in the Colorado Premiere Challenge which will be jointly hosted by Metro State and Regis. Mines will face Abilene Christian and Tampa at 3:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., respectively at the Regis site.
