#5 seed CSM defeats #4 seed UCCS, 3-0, in RMAC Tournament Quarterfinals


KEARNEY, Neb. - #5 seed Colorado School of Mines defeated #4 seed UC - Colorado Springs in three sets (25-16, 25-22, 25-19) on Thursday afternoon, November 12th, in the Quarterfinals of the 2009 RMAC Volleyball Tournament at the Health & Sports Center.  For the box score, CLICK HERE.

CSM's Elizabeth Serra-Hsu hit .333 at the net and led all players with 13 kills.  Serra-Hsu also had nine digs, three total blocks and three service aces as the Orediggers improved to 22-8 overall.  Kaity Edmiston (.348 hitting %) amassed 11 kills and seven total blocks (two solo) while Emily Collett (seven digs) handed out 29 assists.  Jackie Stabell (two service aces) had eight kills and eight blocks, Alese Madenwald collected a match-high 16 digs, and Tara Schwein (six kills, .417 at the net) and Anna Padget-Shields each finished with three block assists.

Andrea Brodie recorded a 10-kill, 12-dig double-double for the Mountain Lions (18-10 overall).

The Orediggers advance to face #1 seed Nebraska-Kearney (32-1 overall) in the 2009 RMAC Volleyball Tournament Semifinals on Friday night, November 13th, at 6:30 p.m. MST (7:30 p.m. CST in Kearney, Neb.) at the Health & Sports Center.  The Lopers are currently the #3 ranked team in the country (NCAA Division II).

The winner of the #5 CSM / #1 UNK semifinal match will square off against the winner of the #3 Metro State / #2 Mesa State semifinal match in the 2009 RMAC Volleyball Tournament Championship Match, which will be held on Saturday evening, November 14th, at 6:00 p.m. MST (7:00 p.m. CST in Kearney, Neb.) at the Health & Sports Center.

The winner of the 2009 RMAC Volleyball Tournament will receive an automatic berth as one of the eight teams in the NCAA Division II Central Region Tournament, which will be held on Thursday - Saturday, November 19th - 21st.  The location, pairings and match times for the NCAA Division II Central Region Tournament are yet to be announced.

The Orediggers were ranked #10 in today's (November 12th) Central Region rankings.
