CSM posts two more wins at Hilltopper Volleyball Classic; Serra-Hsu named to All-Tournament Team

AUSTIN, Texas - Colorado School of Mines defeated Ouachita Baptist University in four games (25-15, 23-25, 25-17, 25-22) before sweeping Texas A&M International University (25-19, 25-13, 25-8) in the final day of competition at the St. Edward's University Hilltopper Volleyball Classic on Saturday, September 5th, at the Recreation and Convocation Center on the St. Edward's University campus in Austin, Texas.
In Saturday's first match, Elizabeth Serra-Hsu registered 12 digs and a match-best 20 kills as CSM improved to 6-2 on the season. Three other Orediggers reached double figures in digs, including Jackie Stabell, who led her squad with 17. Kaity Edmiston (10 kills) had three block assists, Tara Schwein finished with 10 kills and Kendra McFadden had 14 digs. Lexie Hegi had 43 assists and Raichel Settle accounted for a match-high 22 digs as Ouachita Baptist saw its record slip to 1-7. For the box score, click here.
The Orediggers hit .416 from the net as a team (89 total attacks) while sweeping TAMIU and improving to 7-2 overall in their final match of the weekend. Serra-Hsu led all players in kills (13) and digs (nine) and Amanda Massey provided her squad with 38 assists and a pair of block assists. Texas A&M International University (0-7 overall) posted a .020 hitting percentage in 98 total attacks. For the box score, click here.
At the conclusion of the weekend, Serra-Hsu was named to the Hilltopper Volleyball Classic All-Tournament Team. Last weekend, Serra-Hsu was selected as the MVP of the Holiday Inn Denver West Oredigger Volleyball Classic All-Tournament Team (August 27th - 29th; hosted by CSM).
The Orediggers (NCAA Division II) are scheduled to host Colorado College (NCAA Division III) in a non-conference NCAA match on Tuesday evening, September 8th, at 7:00 p.m. at Lockridge Arena in Golden.
CSM will then begin the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) portion of its schedule by hosting Metro State and Regis University on Friday and Saturday, September 11th and 12th, respectively, at Lockridge Arena. Both matches are slated to begin at 7:00 p.m.
Mines will then conclude a five-match homestand by hosting Chadron State and Nebraska-Kearney on Tuesday and Friday, September 15th and 18th, respectively. The Orediggers will play Chadron State at 6:00 p.m. at Volk Gymnasium on the 15th before returning to Lockridge Arena for their match against UNK at 7:00 p.m. on the 18th.
