#4 UNK defeats CSM volleyball in four sets; Orediggers qualify as #5 seed for RMAC Tournament

KEARNEY, Neb. - The University of Nebraska - Kearney defeated Colorado School of Mines in four sets (25-21, 25-9, 18-25, 25-18) on Saturday afternoon, November 7th, in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) volleyball action at the Health & Sports Center. For the box score, CLICK HERE.
Five players reached double figures in kills for the fourth-ranked Lopers, including Kelsey Werner, who led all players with 15 while hitting .423 at the net. Jeri Walkowiak (.571 hitting %) had 14 kills and Cola Svec handed out 51 assists as UNK concluded the 2009 season undefeated in conference play (19-0). Erica Burson and Nikki Scott (five total blocks) contributed 10 kills apiece as Nebraska-Kearney improved to 31-1.
Mines' Jackie Stabell amassed a .346 hitting % (26 total attacks) while collecting a team-most 12 kills. Elizabeth Serra-Hsu and Kaity Edmiston (four block assists) registered 10 kills apiece, Emily Collett finished with 38 assists and Kirstie Bunting gathered a match-high 11 digs as CSM fell to 21-8 overall (13-6 RMAC).
Mines has clinched the #5 seed in the upcoming RMAC Tournament, which will be held on Thursday - Saturday, November 12th - 14th, at Nebraska-Kearney. The Orediggers will face #4 seed UC - Colorado Springs (18-9 overall) in the Quarterfinals on Thursday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. MST (5:00 p.m. CST in Kearney, Neb.).

The winner of the RMAC Tournament will receive an automatic berth as one of the eight teams in the NCAA Division II Central Region Tournament, which will be held on Thursday - Saturday, November 19th - 21st. The location, pairings and match times for the NCAA Division II Central Region Tournament are yet to be announced.
