CSM volleyball establishes program records for overall victories & conference victories with win at Chadron State


CHADRON, Neb. - Colorado School of Mines defeated Chadron State College in four sets (21-25, 25-14, 25-21, 25-18) on Tuesday night, November 3rd, in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) volleyball action at Armstrong Gym.  For the box score, click here.

Four players reached double figures in kills for CSM, including Elizabeth Serra-Hsu, who led all players with 18.  Kaity Edmiston (.407 at the net) and Jackie Stabell (12 digs, .345 at the net) finished with 13 and 14 kills, respectively as the Orediggers (21-7 overall, 13-5 RMAC) established new single-season program records for overall victories and conference victories.

Tara Schwein had 10 kills and registered a .714 hitting % (14 total attacks), Emily Collett handed out 40 assists and Kirstie Bunting (two service aces) accounted for a match-high 20 digs.  Serra-Hsu, who added 11 digs en route to her 14th double-double of the season, also had three service aces for the Orediggers, who hit .299 at the net as a team.

Serra-Hsu, Edmiston and Schwein finished with four total blocks apiece as the Orediggers came away victorious for the 11th time in their past 13 matches.

Lauren Emory (.391 hitting %) and Molly Jones (10 digs) each tallied 11 kills for Chadron State (5-20 overall, 5-13 RMAC) while Alyssa Norton contributed eight kills and five total blocks.

The Orediggers, who were ranked #10 in last week's (October 29th) NCAA Division II Central Region rankings, will conclude their regular-season schedule by playing at fourth-ranked Nebraska-Kearney on Saturday afternoon, November 7th, at 3:00 p.m. MST (4:00 p.m. CST in Kearney, Neb.).  UNK is currently ranked #2 in the most recent NCAA Division II Central Region rankings.

CSM has clinched a spot in the upcoming RMAC Tournament, which will be held on Thursday - Saturday, November 12th - 14th, at the University of Nebraska - Kearney (Health & Sports Center).  Pairings and match times for the RMAC Tournament are yet to be announced.

The winner of the RMAC Tournament will receive an automatic berth as one of the eight teams in the NCAA Division II Central Region Tournament, which will be held on Thursday - Saturday, November 19th - 21st.  The location, pairings and match times for the NCAA Division II Central Region Tournament are yet to be announced.
