Evans' Hat Trick Leads Mines To 8-0 Win Over ENMU

GOLDEN – A hat trick by junior Anna Evans highlighted the second-straight 8-0 win for the Colorado School of Mines women's soccer team on Thursday as the Orediggers posted a win over Eastern New Mexico at the CSM Soccer Stadium in Golden.

The Orediggers (2-1-0) have posted a combined 16 goals in their last two matches, while also posting a 64-4 advantage on shots and a 42-4 advantage in shots on goal over the same stretch. The defense has now posted two consecutive shutouts and the Orediggers have held their opponents scoreless in six of their last seven matches dating back to last season.

Senior Dani Hering picked right up where she left off on Sunday with a goal in the 10th minute, her third of the season, to put Mines up 1-0. Evans followed with her second of the season, and first of the day, just 44 seconds later on an assist from Becca Morales to increase the Mines' lead to 2-0.

Evans added her second of three in the 20th minute on another cross from the corner by Morales to push the lead to 3-0.

Jordan Partin added her second goal of the season in the 33rd minute after she knocked in a mishandled ball by the ENMU (0-3-0) keeper which put the Orediggers up 4-0 in the first half.

Deirdre Johnson put Mines up 5-0 after she got under a long Aubrey Bagley pass and outran the Zias' defense and snuck it under the ENMU keeper for her second goal of the season.

Kendra Bulawa closed out the first half when she knocked in an unassisted goal from 20 yards out to give Mines a 6-0 lead right before halftime.

Evans added her third and final goal of the match on a penalty kick in the 50th minute to tie herself with teammate Megan Woodworth for second on the all-time goals list at Mines with 28.

Morales closed out the scoring in the 56th minute when she knocked in a rebound off the keeper to bring the score to 8-0, which would hold as the final.

Evans became just the third Oredigger women's soccer player in history to notch a hat trick with her performance on Thursday, while Morales added four points on two assists and a goal to add to the offensive output.

The Orediggers will continue their current two-game home stand when they host Washburn on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the CSM Soccer Stadium in Golden.
