Stark named NSCAA College Scholar Third Team All-American

GOLDEN, Colo. – Colorado School of
Mines’ Jessica Stark has been named NSCAA (National Soccer
Coaches Association of America) College Scholar Third Team
All-American and All-West Region, as announced by the NSCAA
today.
Stark, a junior defender from Abilene, Texas (Cooper H.S.), is a
civil engineering major with a 3.89 cumulative grade point average.
Stark earned First Team Academic All-RMAC recognition and was named
CoSIDA / ESPN the Magazine First Team Academic
All-District in 2009. A Second Team All-RMAC selection for the 2009
season, Stark and the Oredigger defense ranked first in the RMAC
with 15 shutouts and third in goals allowed (21) and goals against
average (0.84).
A Daktronics and NSCAA Second Team All-Central Region
pick, Stark started all 25 games scoring seven goals and tallying
one assist.
As a sophomore in 2008, Stark played in 17 matches (eight starts)
and tallied two assists. Stark was named First Team Academic
All-RMAC and earned an Academic Achievement Award from the NCAA
Division II Athletics Directors Association. Stark started all 21
matches and scored three goals as a true freshman during the 2007
season.
The Orediggers (19-5-1, 13-3 RMAC) finished the 2009 season ranked
seventh in the Division II. CSM advanced to the quarterfinals of
the NCAA Division II Women’s Soccer Championships, the
farthest any team at Mines has advanced in NCAA Tournament play.
