CSM women’s soccer signs six for the 2010 season


GOLDEN, Colo. - The Colorado School of Mines women's soccer program has received National Letters of Intent from six athletes to begin playing for the Orediggers in 2010, as announced by CSM Head Coach Frank Kohlenstein. For the complete release, click here.

"The 2010 recruiting class for the Oredigger women's soccer team should be one that challenges for the deepest class in the young history of the program," said Kohlenstein who led CSM to the NCAA Tournament and a berth in the Elite Eight. "The group includes players that will contribute at every position on the field except goalkeeper. The six players are expected to compete for playing time as freshmen and will be very important if we are going to continue building on our success".

Archuleta was a three-year letter winner at Legacy High School and helped lead her team to the semifinals of the State Championships in 2009.

Evans lettered all four years as a member of the varsity squad at Arvada West High School. A Second Team All-State selection as a junior, Evans helped lead her team to the State Championships in 2007 and 2008.  

Hopper is a four-year letter winner at Cypress Falls H.S. As a freshman, Hopper helped lead her team to the State Championships. As a junior and senior, Hopper was a team captain and in her final season was named to the Cougar Classic All-Tournament team.

An Honorable Mention All-State selection, Makhani earned three letters in soccer at Stony Point H.S. Makhani helped lead her team to the District Playoffs as a sophomore.

Murphy lettered three times as a member of the varsity squad at Cheyenne Mountain H.S. During her career she helped lead her team to a State Championship in 2007 as well a berth in the State Championships in 2008 and 2009.

The District Player of the Year in her final season, Neal led LAHS to three runner-up finishes at the State Championships during her career. Neal was a three-time First Team All-District pick and twice earned All-State Honorable Mention accolades as a four-year letter winner.

The Orediggers (19-5-1, 13-3 RMAC) finished the 2009 season ranked seventh in the final Division II Top 25 Poll. CSM advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Championships, the farthest any team at Mines has advanced in NCAA Tournament play.
