#22 Mines falls to #13 Fort Lewis, 3-2, in semifinals of the RMAC Tournament

DENVER, Colo. – The 22nd-ranked Colorado
School of Mines women’s soccer team fell to #13 Fort Lewis on
Friday afternoon by a score of 3-2 at Auraria Field on the campus
of Metro State in the semifinals of the RMAC Tournament.
Hayley Hollenga gave the Skyhawks an early lead in the 5th minute
of the match beating CSM goalkeeper Briana Schulze far post for the
goal.
CSM answered tying the game in the 19th minute off a corner kick.
Jessica Stark buried a header in the back of the net near post off
the corner kick by Kayla Mitchell. The assist was Mitchell’s
eighth of the season.
Mines took a 2-1 in the 37th minute. Adrea Johnson crossed a ball
on the ground in front of the goal and Stark scored her second goal
of the game and her seventh of the season. The assist by Johnson
was her third of the season.
Fort Lewis tied the game in the 54th minute on a goal from Jamie
MacArthur. Hollenga struck again scoring the game-winner with six
minutes and nine seconds remaining in the match.
Briana Schulze made eight saves in goal for Mines.
The Orediggers (17-4, 13-3 RMAC) will await the announcement of the
48-team field for the NCAA Division II Women’s Soccer
Championships which will be made on Monday, Nov. 9th at 5:00 pm
(MST) on NCAA.com.
