Swanson and Larsen place third, Sheldon finishes fourth, at Wyoming Cowboy Open

LARAMIE, Wyo. - The Colorado School of Mines wrestling team competed at the University of Wyoming Open on Saturday, November 14th, in Laramie, Wyo.

Jordan Larsen, who was ranked seventh in the 165 lb. weight class in the NCAA Division II Wrestling Coaches Association 2009-10 Pre-Season Poll, posted a 4-1 record and placed third in the 165 lb. Amateur competition.  Ryan Swanson also placed third while registering a 4-1 record in the 174 lb. Amateur bracket.  Brandon Sheldon, who went 3-2 in the 184 lb. Amateur division, placed fourth.

CSM sent 14 other attached wrestlers, including Robert Johnson (141 lb. Amateur; 1-2 with one fall), Zach Young (141 lb. Amateur; 0-2), Austin Cordova (149 lb. Amateur; 1-2), Mick Ramsay (149 lb. Amateur; 1-2), Cooper Newby (149 lb. Amateur; 0-2), Chad Lousberg (133 lb. Elite; 2-2), Dylan Lewis (141 lb. Elite; 0-2), Jesse Snider (149 lb. Elite; 2-2 with one fall), Mike Brown (157 lb. Elite; 0-2), Ryan Sprackling (157 lb. Elite; 1-2), Travis Wokasch (157 lb. Elite; 0-2), Jacob Guynes (165 lb. Elite; 1-2), Bryan Stansbury (HWT Elite; 3-2 with two falls) and Brennen Knerr (HWT Elite; 2-2).

Twelve Orediggers competed unattached, as well, including Elias Arias (125 lb. Amateur; 1-2), Mitch VeDepo (133 lb. Amateur; 0-2), Mikie Burgess (141 lb. Amateur; 3-2 with one fall), Gabe Martinez (141 lb. Amateur; 0-2), McLain Cowan (149 lb. Amateur; 2-2 with one fall), Mitch Doolin (157 lb. Amateur; 0-2), Raudel Lucero (157 lb. Amateur; 0-2), Chad Stich (157 lb. Amateur; 1-2), Vassil Boasherliev (165 lb. Amateur; 0-2), Joshua Brown (174 lb. Amateur; 1-2), Robert Tucker (HWT Amateur; 1-2 with one fall) and Bobby Strain (197 lb. Elite; 0-2).

The Orediggers will compete at the Old Chicago Northern Colorado Open on Sunday, November 22nd, at Butler-Hancock Sports Pavilion in Greeley, Colo.
