Snider moves up to #5 in NCAA Division II individual rankings (149 lbs.)


GOLDEN, Colo. - Colorado School of Mines' Jesse Snider has moved up to fifth in the 149 lb. weight class in the latest NCAA Division II Wrestling Coaches Association individual rankings (January 20th).

Snider, a sophomore from Parker, Colo. (Ponderosa High School), was ranked seventh in the last two polls (December 16th and January 5th).  Snider is currently 20-5 overall with three falls.  Earlier this season, Snider placed first at the Old Chicago Northern Colorado Open (November 22nd), second at the Fort Hays State University Bob Smith Open (December 5th) and third at the Hastings College Open (January 9th).

As a redshirt freshman in 2008-09, Snider went 26-11 overall (7-0 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference duals) with three falls.  Snider, who placed fourth at the 2009 RMAC Championships / NCAA Division II West Regionals, went on to compete at the 2009 NCAA Division II National Championships.  The recipient of CSM's "Most Wins" and "Team MVP" awards last winter, Snider redshirted during his first season at Mines in 2007-08.

CSM will have three duals on Saturday, January 23rd, at Antelope Gymnasium on the campus of Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Ariz.  The Orediggers will compete against RMAC associate members San Francisco State University (#18 in the nation) and Grand Canyon University (#19 in the nation) at 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., respectively, before squaring off against Embry Riddle (Ariz.) University in a non-conference dual at 1:00 p.m.

The Orediggers will then return home to host the Rocky Mountain Collegiate Open on Saturday, January 30th, beginning at 9:00 a.m. at Lockridge Arena in Golden.

Mines will also travel to Nebraska - Kearney (7:00 p.m. CST / 6:00 p.m. MST) and Fort Hays State University (5:00 p.m. CST / 4:00 p.m. MST) on Friday and Saturday, February 5th and 6th, respectively, for a pair of RMAC duals.
