Oredigger grapplers fall to USAFA, Ohio University

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Colorado School of Mines suffered a pair of non-conference dual losses on Friday afternoon, December 11th, at Clune Arena. The Orediggers fell to the U.S. Air Force Academy by the score of 33-13 before enduring a 36-3 loss to the Ohio University Bobcats.

In the dual against the USAFA Falcons, Mines' Chad Lousberg picked up his sixth fall of the year and improved to 8-5 on the season with his victory in the 133-lb. bout. Jesse Snider won by major decision (16-3) in the 149-lb. match to improve his season mark to 13-3 while Jamie Sheets (now 5-5) came away with a 7-3 victory in the 157-lb. bout as the Orediggers fell to 0-1-0 overall. The Falcons (1-1-0 overall) recorded victories in the 125-lb. (forfeit), 141-lb., 165-lb., 174-lb., 184-lb., 197-lb. and HWT matches.
Lousberg, the lone CSM wrestler to come away victorious against Ohio University, improved to 9-5 with his win in the 133-lb. bout. The Bobcats (6-0-0 overall) posted wins in the other nine matches, including a forfeit victory in the 125-lb. weight class.
The Orediggers (0-2-0 overall, 0-0-0 RMAC) will begin the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference portion of their 2009-10 dual schedule by hosting seventh-ranked Western State College on Thursday, January 7th, at 7:00 p.m. at Lockridge Arena in Golden.
Mines will also compete in the Hastings College Open on Saturday, January 9th, beginning at 9:00 a.m. (CST) at the Osborne Family Sports Complex in Hastings, Neb.
