The 2010-11 season will mark Paula Krueger's eighth year as the head women's basketball coach at Colorado School of Mines.
Krueger helped guide the Orediggers to their first NCAA Tournament appearance in program history during the 2009-10 season. CSM earned the #8 seed in the NCAA Division II Central Region Tournament. Mines also qualified for the RMAC Tournament for the sixth time in the last seven seasons earning the #2 seed in the East Division and hosting a quarterfinal round game for the second consecutive year. The Orediggers finished the season with a record of 20-9 overall establishing a new single-season program record for victories. Krueger earned her 100th career victory on December 10th, 2009 against Western New Mexico and is currently CSM's all-time winningest women's basketball coach with 114 victories. Brecca Gaffney was named First Team All-East Division while Angie Charchalis and Emily Dalton earned Second Team All-East Division honors.
During the 2008-09 season, Krueger became the winningest coach in the history of CSM women's basketball on February 21, 2009 (94-79). The CSM women went 14-5 in the RMAC in 2008-09 to earn a share of the Regular-Season RMAC East Division Championship. For the Orediggers, the RMAC title was their first in program history. The Orediggers’ 14 conference wins established a new single-season program record and their 19 victories tied a single-season program record. Mines (19-11 overall) finished as the runner-up in the 2008-09 RMAC Shootout Championship. Krueger, who went on to be selected as the RMAC East Division Coach of the Year, also garnered RMAC Co-Coach of the Year recognition. Emily Dalton earned First Team All-East Division accolades while Brecca Gaffney was named Second Team All-East Division.
In 2007-08, the Orediggers went 13-16 overall (8-11 RMAC) to record their fifth consecutive season with double figures in wins. Mines had three players named to the 2007-08 All-RMAC teams, including Brecca Gaffney, who was selected as the East Division Freshman of the Year. CSM also had four student-athletes qualify for recognition on the Academic All-RMAC teams in 2007-08.
Three seasons ago (2006-07), Krueger led the Orediggers to a 15-13 overall record and a 12-7 mark in the RMAC. CSM qualified as the #6 seed in the annual RMAC Shootout, marking the fourth time in as many years that the Orediggers had reached the post season. Two of Krueger's players, Iva Tomova (First Team All-East Division) and Angela Pearson (Honorable Mention All-East Division), earned recognition on the 2006-07 All-RMAC squads.
In 2005-06, Krueger guided CSM to a 16-14 overall record (8-11 RMAC) as the Orediggers reached the RMAC Shootout title game for the first time in the history of the program. At the conclusion of the 2005-06 season, Ashley Gronewoller was named First Team All-RMAC. Gronewoller graduated as the all-time leading scorer and rebounder at CSM.
Krueger's team enjoyed its best-ever season in 2004-05,
compiling a 19-9 overall record (13-6 RMAC) and reaching the RMAC
Shootout for the second straight year.
In Krueger's first season at the helm (2003-04), the Orediggers
went 10-9 in conference play and qualified as the #7 seed in the
RMAC Shootout. CSM's 12-16 overall record was an eight-game
improvement from the previous year.
A graduate of Northern State, Krueger was a standout on the
Wolves' women's basketball team, earning national tournament MVP
honors as a senior during the team's national championship campaign
in 1993-94. In addition, Krueger was also a team captain and
All-District performer on NSU’s softball team. Krueger earned
NSU’s prestigious Hildred Wolfe Student Athlete of the Year
award as a senior.
Following her collegiate playing career, Krueger served as a graduate assistant for the Wolves' women's basketball and softball teams (1995-96) while finishing her studies. Krueger received her bachelor’s degree in Education from NSU in 1995 and her master’s degree in Teaching in 1996.
After her graduation, Krueger moved to Nevada where she taught and coached at Pahrump Valley High School for one year before returning to Northern State in 1997 to serve as the assistant women’s basketball coach and head softball coach. During her six years as an assistant on the NSU hoops squad, Krueger helped guide the Wolves to a 114-59 mark.
Krueger and her husband, Brad, make their home in Golden.
The 2010-11 season will mark Brittany Simpson's third year as an assistant coach for the CSM women's basketball team.

Prior to her arrival at Mines, Simpson (formerly Rowley) spent the 2006-07 season as a graduate assistant coach for the women's basketball team at the University of Colorado - Colorado Springs.
Simpson, who graduated from Mesa State College in 2006 with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration, was a four-year letterwinner for the Mavericks (2002-03 to 2005-06). An All-RMAC and Academic All-RMAC performer during her final two years, Simpson earned recognition on the MSC Honor Roll throughout her collegiate career.
During her prep career at Green River High School in Green
River, Wyoming, Simpson was a two-time All-State and three-time
All-Conference selection in basketball. Simpson was also a
three-time All-State and four-time All-Conference performer in
golf. A four-year Honor Student at GRHS, Simpson earned All-State
honors in golf on three occasions, as well.
