CSM women's basketball moves up to eighth in NCAA Division II Central Region Poll


GOLDEN, Colo. -- In the NCAA Division II Regional rankings released today the Colorado School of Mines women's basketball team moved up to eighth in the Central Region Poll.

The Orediggers have now won seven straight Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) contests. Last week, Mines posted a 54-47 victory at home against Colorado Christian (Feb. 3) and recorded a 77-57 win on the road at UC-Colorado Springs (Feb. 6).

Mines' Emily Dalton ranks ninth in the RMAC in scoring (14.7), Brecca Gaffney ranks fifth in rebounding (8.4), Peanut Eickelman is fifth in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.56), while Savannah Afoa (2.19) and Katie Carty (1.95) are second and third in blocked shots. CSM currently ranks seventh in NCAA Division II in field-goal percentage defense (33.8), ninth in blocked shots per game (5.2) and 14th in rebounding margin (8.3).

Mines, which sits atop the RMAC East Division with a record of 11-2 and 14-7 overall, will play at Metro State and Regis University on Friday, Feb. 13th and Saturday, Feb. 14th, respectively. Both games are scheduled for 5:00 pm.
