2010-11 marks Marianne Hutchens' third season as the Women's Strength & Conditioning Coach / Assistant Track & Field Coach at Colorado School of Mines.

Hutchens coached her first sprinter to All-American honors as Kiera Benson placed eighth in the 60 m at the 2010 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships. Benson also qualified for the 2010 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships in the 100 m.

Hutchens, who served as an assistant track & field coach and an assistant strength & conditioning coach in a part-time capacity at Mines in 2007-08, also worked as a facilities supervisor in the CSM Student Recreation Center during the 2007-08 school year.

Prior to her arrival at Mines, Hutchens spent four years (2003-04 to 2006-07) as an assistant track & field coach at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Hutchens, who coached the pole vaulters at James Madison, also served as the Assistant Director for Compliance during her final season with the Dukes in 2006-07.

Hutchens' coaching resume also includes one year (2002-03) as a volunteer assistant coach for the CSM track & field team and one season (2001-02) as a graduate assistant strength & conditioning coach at Illinois State University.

During her collegiate career at Purdue University, Hutchens became the first-ever women's pole vaulter for the Boilermakers' track & field squad and was a member of two Big Ten team champions (indoor in 1999, outdoor in 2000). Hutchens, who earned recognition on the Coaches Honor Roll in 1999-00, graduated from Purdue in 2000 with an undergraduate degree in Exercise Physiology.

Hutchens, who went on to earn her master's degree in Athletic Administration from James Madison University in 2007, is Level I USA Track & Field Certified and Level II USA Track & Field Certified in Jumps, Sprints / Hurdles, Relays and Combined Events.

A 1996 graduate of Merrillville High School in Indiana, Hutchens competed in track & field during her prep career.

Hutchens and her husband, Josh, who is the head wrestling coach at CSM, make their home in Golden.
