Four new school records set at CSM Alumni Extravaganza

GOLDEN, Colo. – The Oredigger men won the
CSM Alumni Extravaganza at Steinhauer Fieldhouse on Saturday
afternoon while the CSM women placed third. Four new school records
were set along with a new Steinhauer Fieldhouse record and two CSM
athletes had NCAA provisional qualifying marks.
For the Oredigger women, sprinter Kiera Benson broke the school
record in the 60 m that she set in 2008 and won the event with a
time of 7.58. The time was also a NCAA provisional qualifying time.
Benson also placed second (11.14 m) in the triple jump. Kristen
Rinedollar established a new school record in the 300 m with a time
of 42.22 while finishing third overall. Briana Suppes finished
third in the 600 m with a time of 1:41.20 to break the school
record.
David Stuart placed second in the high jump for CSM as he
provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships with a jump of
2.06 m. Peter Jenkins not only set a new school record but broke
the Steinhauer Fieldhouse record in the 600 m with a time of
1:21.11 winning the event. Tim Popp (4.20 m) and T.J. Puls (4.05 m)
finished second and third in the pole vault for Mines. Nick Zehring
finished second (15.06 m) in the weight throw.
The Orediggers will compete at the U.S. Air Force Open on Friday,
Jan. 15th in Colorado Springs, Colo.
