Benson leads the way for Mines with two first-place finishes at Air Force All-Comers Meet

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Colorado
School of Mines track & field squad competed at the Air Force
Academy All-Comers Meet on Friday evening at the Cadet Field
House.
Kiera Benson won both the 60 m and 200 m dash. Benson tied the
school record in both events with a time of 7.58 in the 60 m and
25.46 in the 200 m. Benson also finished third in the triple jump
(10.82 m). In the 800 m, Briana Suppes and Hilary Hurst finished
third and fourth, respectively. Kristen Rinedollar broke a 12-year
old school record in the 400 m with a time of 59.35.
The CSM men’s highest finish came from David Stuart who
placed third in the high jump (2.00 m). Jon Dempster placed fourth
in the triple jump (13.01 M) and sixth in the long jump (6.00 m).
Nick Zehring recorded a throw of 14.96 m in the shot put and placed
fifth overall.
The Orediggers will host the Joe Davies Open on Saturday, Jan. 23rd
at Steinhauer Fieldhouse beginning at 9:00 am. The CSM track &
field squad will then travel to Albuquerque, N.M. on Feb. 6th to
compete in the New Mexico Classic.
