
GOLDEN, Colo. - Colorado School of Mines' Mark Husted was named ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VII (College Division), as announced this morning by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America).
Husted, a senior from Westminster, Colo. (Northglenn High School), is majoring in Electrical Engineering at CSM. The owner of a 3.87 cumulative GPA, Husted earned First Team Academic All-District honors in 2008 and was a Third Team Academic All-American. During the 2009 indoor track & field season, Husted was a unanimous First Team Academic All-RMAC selection.
In 2009, Husted helped lead CSM to its third National Championship in track & field as a member of the distance medley relay (DMR) squad at the 2009 Indoor Track & Field National Championship. The CSM men placed ninth at the indoor championships, the best-ever finish for a CSM team (men or women) at the indoor championships. Husted earned All-American honors in the DMR as well as in the 800 m at the Indoor National Championships with a fourth-place finish. A Preseason All-RMAC selection in indoor track & field, Husted earned First Team All-RMAC honors in the 400 m and 4X400 relay and Second Team accolades in the 800 m and distance medley relay. Husted also set a new school record in the 800 m (1:50.56) during the 2009 indoor track & field season.
As a junior in 2008, Husted earned All-American honors in both the 800 m (sixth place) and as a member of the DMR team that posted a runner-up finish at the 2008 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championship. A First Team Academic All-RMAC selection during both the indoor and outdoor seasons, Husted established a new CSM indoor school record in the 600 m (1:23.17). Husted earned First Team All-RMAC accolades in the 400 m and Second Team All-RMAC honors in the 800 m and 4X400 relay at the 2008 RMAC Indoor Championships. During the 2008 outdoor track & field season, Husted earned All-American honors in the 800 m (fifth place). Husted was also part of the CSM men's outdoor track & field team that posted an eighth-place finish at the 2008 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field National Championships. Husted earned First Team All-RMAC honors in the 4X400 relay and Second Team accolades in the 800 m.
In 2007 as a sophomore, Husted qualified for Nationals as a member of the DMR squad and individually in the 800 m. An Academic All-RMAC performer during both the indoor and outdoor seasons, Husted earned Second Team All-RMAC honors in the 800 m in both indoor and outdoor track & field and as a member of the 4X400 relay during the outdoor season. As a freshman in 2006, Husted was a Second Team All-RMAC selection in the 800 m during both the indoor and outdoor seasons.
