Five Oredigger swimmers post NCAA qualifying times at Washington University Thanksgiving Invite

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Colorado School of
Mines swimming & diving teams competed at the Washington
University Thanksgiving Invite on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 21st
and 22nd. The CSM men finished first out of eight teams while the
women placed sixth overall. Matthew Bisping, Kevin Shaw, Siarhei
Piletski, Andrew Zerwick and Angel Forsling posted NCAA qualifying
times.
Bisping won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 57.65 and the 200
breaststroke (2:07.11) both times were NCAA “B”
qualifying standards. Shaw swam two “B” qualifying
standards, posting a runner-up finish in the 400 IM (4:08.36) and a
fourth-place finish in the 200 breaststroke (2:09.57). Piletksi was
one of four CSM swimmers to finish in the top five in the 200
breaststroke also qualifying with a “B” standard (3rd,
2:08.86). Andrew Zerwick recorded a “B” qualifying
standard in the 200 backstroke winning the event in a time of
1:53.50.
Forsling had a record-setting weekend establishing CSM school
records in the 100 and 200 breaststroke and 200 IM. Forsling won
the 100 breaststroke and automatically qualified for the NCAA
Championships with an “A” standard in the event
(1:05.25). Forsling also won the 200 IM (2:10.52) and 200
breaststroke (2:24.30) with a “B” standard time.
The Orediggers will resume competition on Friday-Sunday, Jan.
22nd-24th at the Colorado College Classic in Colorado Springs,
Colo.
