Oredigger women defeat UNK and Morningside College; CSM men win dual against Morningside


KEARNEY, Neb. - The Colorado School of Mines swimming & diving teams competed at the UNK Triangular this afternoon at Cushing Pool. The CSM men defeated Morningside College (Iowa), 134 to 101. The Oredigger women defeated host school UNK (77 to 61) and Morningside (70 to 62).

In the first event of the day, Lauren McIver, Angel Forsling, Michaela McNiff and Krista D'Innocenzo took first in the 200-medley relay with a time of 1:58.56. All four members of the 200-medley relay won multiple events on Saturday afternoon. Angel Forsling won three events: the 100 breaststroke (1:08.10), 200 breaststroke (2:30.18) and 100 butterfly (1:02.48). McNiff won both the 200 freestyle (2:04.57) and 100 freestyle (57.75) while McIver won the 100 backstroke (1:06.58) and 200 backstroke (2:22.75). Rainey Perkins finished first in the 1000 freestyle (11:16.78) and 500 freestyle (5:32.18).

The Mines men also started off the afternoon with a win in the 200-medley relay as Andrew Zerwick, Matthew Bisping, Siarhei Piletski and Will MacIntyre posted a time of 1:40.28. Zerwick (200 backstroke, 1:57.61), Bisping (100 breaststroke (1:00.26) and Piletski (200 breaststroke, 2:15.37) all won individual events as well. Matthew Lemke swam a personal best in the 1000 freestyle winning the event (9:59.66). Aaron Miller won the 200 freestyle (1:50.78). Jacob Dole finished first in the 100 backstroke (53.98) and the 50 freestyle (22.10). Brian Coates placed first in the 200 butterfly (2:02.53) and Tim Moore won the 100 freestyle (51.03).

The Orediggers will compete in a dual meet at Colorado College on Saturday, Nov. 7th beginning at noon in Colorado Springs, Colo.
