Orediggers win the Colorado College Classic

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Colorado
School of Mines swimming & diving teams competed at the three
day Colorado College Classic that began on Friday evening, Jan.
22nd and finished earlier today at Schlessman Pool. The men’s
and women’s teams combined for team score of 1382.5 points
and took home the overall team title.
On the men’s side, CSM won its second meet of the season
scoring 994.5 points. Jacob Dole won three individual events and
was part of two winning relay teams. Dole won the 50 and 100
freestyle events as well as the 100 backstroke. The 200 medley
relay team of Siarhei Piletski, Matthew Bisping, Brian Coates and
Dole finished first as well as the 200 freestyle relay team
composed of Will MacIntyre, Travis Ransom, Bisping and Dole. Kevin
Shaw won 200 breaststroke, 200 IM and 400 IM. Andrew Zerwick won
one of nine events for the CSM men doing so in the 200
backstroke.
Sarah Moore and Angel Forsling helped lead the way for the
Oredigger women who placed third out of eight teams scoring 388
points. Moore won both the 1-meter and 3-meter events marking the
fifth time this season that she has won both events at a
competition. Forsling won both the 100 and 200 breaststroke and
placed third in the 200 IM and 200 butterfly. Michaela McNiff won
the 400 IM with a time of 4:57.48.
The Orediggers will host the 2010 RMAC Championships at Meyers
Pool in Arvada, Colo. beginning Thursday, Feb. 11th. Those athletes
that qualify will compete in the NCAA Division II Championships on
March 10th-13th in Canton, Ohio.
