"These four individuals bring with them a lot of diverse talent both offensively and defensively." said Van Wetzinga, who will begin her third season as head coach at Mines in 2010.  "There is a good combination of speed and power while adding talent at both infield and outfield, including the specialty positions of pitcher and catcher."

Anderson was named District Offensive MVP in 2009, as well as Academic All-District in both 2008 and 2009.  During the 2009 season, Anderson helped lead BHHS to the State Tournament.

"Morgan is another left-handed bat with good speed," stated Van Wetzinga. "Morgan also has the ability to drive the ball to the gaps from the left as well as beating out infield hits, so we are excited for her potential of being a triple threat from the left side of the plate.  Defensively, she can play outfield or second base very effectively."

Benson was a two-time All-Conference and a First Team All-State selection in 2008 at FCHS.  In 2009, Benson was Honorable Mention MaxPreps 3A Player of the Year and a Colorado Coaches of Girl's Sports All-State pick.

"Brinley will provide us with a much-needed left-handed bat," said Van Wetzinga.  "She possesses a lot of speed and can be a weapon on the base paths.  She has the ability to make an immediate impact in our outfield."

A three-time All-League selection, Lewis helped lead her high school team to a pair of State Championships.  Lewis is a team captain for the 2010 softball season as well as a four-year letterwinner as a member of the golf team.

"Jessica will give us another option at pitcher to work with, but she also can play first base or outfield", stated Van Wetzinga.  "She swings the bat well so we are looking for her to be a true utility player for us and give us more flexibility."

A four-time All-Conference selection, Springer also earned First Team Academic All-State honors.  A team captain during her senior season, Springer was a Colorado Coaches of Girl's Sports All-State pick.

"Sami will provide us with further depth and another quality option behind the plate, while also possessing the ability to play multiple infield positions," said Van Wetzinga. "She has a strong arm and will give us another bat with some power for our lineup."

Mines (39-19, 28-8 RMAC) earned an at-large berth in the NCAA Division II Central Region Tournament during the 2009 season.  For the Orediggers, who earned the #3 seed, it was their first appearance in the NCAA Tournament in program history.  CSM also established single-season program records for both total victories and conference victories last spring.
