GOLDEN – The No. 11 Colorado School of Mines men's soccer team fell to visiting and 24th-ranked West Texas A&M by a 4-2 final on Friday evening at the CSM Soccer Stadium in Golden.
The Orediggers (2-1-0) got on the board in the 18th minute when Baski Baker headed a long Zach Page-Belknap serve in to give Mines a 1-0 lead.
West Texas A&M (4-0-0) responded with three goals to go up by a 3-1 lead heading into halftime.
Mines added its second goal of the night on the first-career goal by freshman Richard Garvey, who scored on a short pass in front from Tesho Akindele, but West Texas A&M responded just under seven minutes later to push the score to 4-2 which would stand as the final.
The Orediggers will close out the nonconference portion of their schedule on Sunday when they host Texas A&M International at the CSM Soccer Stadium in Golden at noon.
