Juett and Strand also earn NSCAA All-Central Region honors

GOLDEN, Colo. – Colorado School of
Mines’ Jacob Juett and Manville Strand earned National Soccer
Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Second Team All-Central
Region honors, as announced today by the NSCAA
Strand, a freshman goalkeeper from Las Vegas, N.V. (Spring Valley
H.S.), was named the RMAC Freshman of the Year for the 2009 season.
A Second Team All-RMAC selection, Strand led RMAC in save
percentage (.808), was ranked second in goals against average
(0.87) and shutouts (8) and fifth in saves (80) for the 2009
season. Strand was a Daktronics Second Team All-Central Region pick
and was named RMAC Defensive Player of the Week three times during
the 2009 season.
Juett, a junior defender from Flower Mound, Texas (St.
Edward’s Univ.), helped anchor a CSM defense that ranked
second in the RMAC in goals allowed (22), goals against average
(0.96) and shutouts (10). A Third Team All-RMAC selection and RMAC
Defensive Player of the Week (Nov. 4th) pick, Juett appeared in 21
matches (19 starts) and scored one goal.
The Orediggers finished the 2009 season ranked 18th in the final
Division II National Poll. CSM earned a bid to the 2009 NCAA
Division II Soccer Championships for the second time in program
history. Mines finished the 2009 season with a record of 15-3-4
overall and 11-2-1 in RMAC play.
