Wages signs with Orediggers

GOLDEN, Colo. - The Colorado School of Mines men's basketball program has received a National Letter of Intent from Trevor Wages to begin playing for the Orediggers in 2010-11, as announced today by CSM Head Coach Pryor Orser.
Wages, a 6'8", 225-lb. forward from Littleton, Colo. (Chatfield High School), lettered in basketball for the Chargers during his sophomore and junior seasons. Wages earned First Team All-Conference, Honorable Mention All-State and First Team Academic All-State recognition as a junior while averaging 14.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.5 blocked shots and 2.0 assists per game.
An Academic letterman and a member of the Academic Honor Roll at Chatfield, Wages was selected as the Most Outstanding Player at the 2009 Rocky Mountain Fall Showcase.
"We are thrilled to have Trevor sign with Colorado School of Mines," said Orser, who begins his ninth season at Mines in 2009-10. "Trevor is one of the top college basketball prospects in Colorado. We are fortunate that he understands that basketball is very important, however temporary, while his education and career are the most important aspects of the decision. He is a superb rebounder and shot blocker, and his skill set around the basket is very good. Trevor has the potential to be a significant contributor early in his career. We look forward to coaching Trevor in the years to come."
With their 14-13 overall record (9-10 RMAC) in 2008-09, the Orediggers recorded their fifth consecutive winning season for the first time in program history. Furthermore, six Orediggers earned Academic All-RMAC recognition in 2008-09.
The Orediggers, who were picked to finish fourth in the East Division - as well as eighth overall - in the RMAC Men's Basketball Pre-Season Coaches Poll, will begin their 2009-10 season by hosting the Mines Tipoff Classic on Friday and Saturday, November 20th and 21st, at Lockridge Arena in Golden. Mines will play Southwestern Assemblies of God (NAIA) on Friday before squaring off against Azusa Pacific University (NAIA) on Saturday. Both games are scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.
Mines will then compete in the Regis University / Colorado School of Mines Thanksgiving Classic on Friday and Saturday, November 27th and 28th, at the Regis Fieldhouse in Denver, Colo. CSM will play Kansas Wesleyan University (NAIA) on Friday and Northwestern Oklahoma State University (NAIA) on Saturday. Both games are scheduled to start at 5:00 p.m. at the Regis Fieldhouse.
