MBB's Green named RMAC / Baden East Division Player of the Week

GOLDEN, Colo. - Colorado School of Mines' Brett Green has been selected as the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference / Baden East Division Player of the Week, as announced today by the RMAC.
A 6'4", 195-lb. freshman guard / forward from Calhan, Colo. (Peyton High School), Green averaged 26.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game while shooting .520 (13-of-25) from the field and .870 (20-of-23) from the free throw line as the Orediggers extended their winning streak to six games with wins against Colorado Christian University (70-58 on February 2nd) and UC - Colorado Springs (91-71 on February 6th) last week.
Green, who also made 50% (7-of-14) of his three-point field goal attempts last week while averaging 38.0 minutes played per game, scored a career-high and game-high 28 points at Colorado Christian. Green went on to register a game-most 25 points in Mines' home victory over the Mountain Lions the following night.
Green, who leads CSM and is ranked fourth in the RMAC in free throw % (.845; 60-of-71), is ranked second on the squad in assists (51) and third on the team in both scoring (11.8 points per game) and steals (20). Green is the third consecutive Oredigger to earn RMAC / Baden East Division Player of the Week honors (Dale Minschwaner - January 25th; Sean Armstrong - February 1st).
A First Team All-Conference and First Team All-State (Colorado Preps, CHSAA) pick at Peyton High School last winter, Green was named Mr. Colorado 3A Player of the Year (The Denver Post) and won the Colorado scoring title (all divisions; 26.4 ppg) in 2008-09. Green, who was selected as the 3A State Tournament MVP, the Tri Peaks League Player of the Year and the Colorado Springs Gazette 3A Player of the Year as a senior, led Peyton High School to a District title and a runner-up finish at the 3A State Tournament last winter. A McDonald's All-American nominee in 2008-09, Green was selected to participate in "The Show" (All-State game).
The Orediggers, who have won seven of their past eight contests, currently reside in second place in the RMAC East Division. Mines (12-9 overall, 9-4 RMAC) will host Regis University and #23 Metro State on Friday and Saturday, February 12th and 13th, respectively, at Lockridge Arena in Golden (8:00 p.m. both nights). The Orediggers will recognize their lone senior, Levi Hamilton, prior to tipoff on February 13th. The Orediggers will then conclude the regular-season portion of their 2009-10 home schedule by hosting Colorado Christian University on Tuesday night, February 16th, at 8:00 p.m. at Lockridge Arena.
