Tyler Kimble begins his fourth season as the head men's golf coach at Colorado School of Mines in 2010-11.
In 2009-10, Kimble guided the Orediggers to their first-ever team appearance in the NCAA Division II West / Central Super Regional. CSM, which earned the #6 seed in the Central Region for the NCAA Division II West / Central Super Regional, was ranked as high as #5 in the Central Region rankings during the 2009-10 season. Jim Knous earned First Team All-RMAC recognition in 2009-10, as well. Knous concluded the 2009-10 season with a team-best 75.05 stroke average. Mines placed five players on the Academic All-RMAC Golf Teams in 2009-10, as well, including Cory Bacon, who garnered First Team accolades.
During the 2008-09 season, Knous earned RMAC Men's Golf Freshman of the Year and First Team All-RMAC accolades. Knous, who concluded the 2008-09 season with a 72.81 stroke average (31 rounds played), was ranked as high as 97th in the 2008-09 Golfstat Cup, which is that organization's list of the top 250 collegiate golfers (all levels; by scoring average) in the country. Knous finished in the top six on the individual leaderboard during eight of 11 events in 2008-09, as well.
Kimble's arrival at CSM came after a two-year stint as the assistant golf coach at Colorado Christian University. In the spring of 2007, Kimble helped lead one of the CCU golfers to a berth in the NCAA Division II West / Northwest Super Regionals.
Kimble, who has coaching experience with the Colorado PGA, has been a PGA professional since 2004. From 2001-02, Kimble served as a Colorado PGA Foundation Golf Professional, coordinating more than 15 annual golf clinics and teaching over 100 private lessons to inner city youth. Kimble, who also teaches at the South Suburban Golf Academy, previously served as a managing partner for the McGetrick Rocky Mountain Golf Academy in Centennial.
As a player, Kimble is a member of the Professional Golfers' Association of America. Kimble placed fifth at the CGA Mid Amateur Championship qualifier and qualified for the 2001 Colorado Mid Amateur Championship.
Kimble earned his bachelor's degree in Natural Resources Recreation and Tourism from Colorado State University in 1997.
Kimble, who graduated from Arapahoe High School in 1993,
competed in golf and soccer during his prep career. Kimble and his
wife, Amy, currently reside in Parker with their daughter, Mason.
Brandon Leimbach begins his third year as the Associate Director of Athletics at Colorado School of Mines in 2010-11. Leimbach previously served as CSM's Assistant Athletic Director of Recreational Sports for six seasons (2002-03 to 2007-08).
Leimbach, who also serves as the assistant golf coach at Mines, helped guide the Orediggers to their first-ever team appearance at the NCAA Division II West / Central Super Regional in 2009-10. Mines placed five players on the Academic All-RMAC Golf Teams in 2009-10, as well, including Cory Bacon, who garnered First Team accolades.
Leimbach spent two years as the Assistant Director of Intramural Sports at the University of California - Irvine prior to his arrival at CSM. Leimbach's experience also includes an internship at Notre Dame and a graduate assistant position at his alma mater, Saint Mary's College (Moraga, California).
Leimbach played football and rugby for the Gaels before going on to earn his bachelor's (Sports Management) and master's (H.P.E.R.) degrees from Saint Mary's in 1998 and 1999, respectively.
During his prep career at Fountain Valley High School in California, Leimbach was selected as FVHS's Male Student-Athlete of the Year in 1994, and is a member of Fountain Valley's football and basketball Hall of Fame.
Leimbach and his wife, Bekki, reside in Golden with their
daughters, Riley (9) and Avery (8), and son, Brady (4).
