Host Mines Ends First Day Of Oredigger Invite In Third

LAKEWOOD – Led by a second-round, school-record 65 by sophomore Jordan Arndt, the No. 20 Colorado School of Mines golf team shaved 12 strokes off its opening round to move from a tie for seventh overall to third at the Oredigger Invitational (RMAC No. 2) at the Fox Hollow Golf Course in Lakewood on Monday.

Mines, serving as the tournament host on the men's side, saw four of its five golfers lower their scores during the second round. Arndt shaved seven strokes with his 65 (-7) during the second, while junior Kyle Grassel took six strokes off his opener with a 68 (-5) on the second round. Arndt will enter Tuesday's finale in a tie for fifth overall while Grassel will head into tomorrow's action in a tie for 13th.

Freshman John Ahern opened with a 71 (-1) and countered with a 70 on the second 18 to finish the first day in a tie for 11th overall. 

Michael Lee posted scores of 71 and 73 to finish Monday's action in a tie for 24th overall.

Adam Saban closed out the Oredigger scorecards with scores of 79 and 74 to head into Tuesday in a tie for 50th overall.
