CSM tied for second, Rangers in seventh place after opening day of competition at CSM / Regis University Fall Invitational

AURORA, Colo. - Co-hosts Colorado School of Mines and Regis University are currently in second and seventh place, respectively, after the opening day of competition at the Colorado School of Mines / Regis University Fall Invitational on Monday afternoon, October 12th, at Blackstone Country Club (par 72) in Aurora, Colo.

The Orediggers and Wayland Baptist University both posted opening-round team scores of 295 (+7) and are six strokes behind Johnson & Wales (Fla.) University (289; +1). Colorado State University - Pueblo (297; +9) is in fourth place, Southwest Baptist (302; +14) is in fifth place, Fort Hays State University (303; +15) is in sixth place and Regis University (304; +16) is seventh.
Wayland Baptist's Jonathan Elliott carded an opening-round 69 (-3) and will begin the second day of competition atop the individual leaderboard. CSM's Jim Knous, FHSU's Markus Hilger and JWU's Joonas Hinkkanen all finished at -2 (70) on Monday and are sitting in a three-way tie for second place. FHSU's Kevin Quinley, Southwest Baptist's Brad Nipper and CSU-Pueblo's Chad Novak are all currently tied for fifth place (71; -1).
The second round of competition at the CSM / RU Fall Invitational will be held at Blackstone Country Club on Tuesday, October 13th.
