To determine the 2009-10 RMAC Men's Golf Regular-Season Champion, each team will receive one (1) point for every RMAC team they defeat at the fall and spring championship events. The team that finishes first will have defeated eight (8) teams and shall receive eight (8) points, the second place team would receive seven (7) points, etc. The aggregate point total of the the fall and spring championship events will determine the 2009-10 RMAC Men's Golf Regular-Season Champion. The champion will be the automatic qualifier for the NCAA Tournament.
For Knous, his finish at the RMAC Fall Championship marked the third time he had earned medalist or co-medalist honors during his college career at CSM. An NCAA Division II All-Central Region selection by PING following his freshman season in 2008-09, Knous has now finished in the top six on the individual leaderboard in nine of his 13 events at Colorado School of Mines. Knous garnered RMAC Men's Golf Freshman of the Year and First Team All-RMAC honors in 2008-09, as well.
Knous was also ranked as high as 97th in the 2008-09 Golfstat Cup, which is that organization's list of the top 250 collegiate golfers (by scoring average) in the country. The Golfstat Cup is comprised of individuals from all divisions of competition (NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA and junior college). Furthermore, Knous was selected to compete as the top-qualifying individual at the 2008-09 NCAA Division II West / Central Super Regional last spring. Knous, who tied for 17th place at the Super Regional, established CSM's three-round, par-71 individual program-record score (207; twice in the fall of 2008) and finished with a 72.81 stroke average in 31 rounds played during his initial season with the Orediggers in 2008-09.
The Orediggers, who are currently ranked 35th in the latest NCAA Division II Golfstat rankings, will compete in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) / RMAC Regional Crossover on Sunday and Monday, September 27th and 28th, at Wild Horse Golf Club in Gothenburg, Neb.
Mines will then compete in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) Fall Invitational on Monday and Tuesday, October 5th and 6th, at Smoky Hill Country Club in Hays, Kan.
The Orediggers will then conclude their 2009 fall season by co-hosting the CSM / Regis University Fall Invitational on Monday and Tuesday, October 12th and 13th, at Blackstone Country Club in Aurora, Colo.
