Bacon earns RMAC Mens Golfer of the Week honors

GOLDEN, Colo. - Colorado School of Mines' Cory Bacon has been selected as the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Men's Golfer of the Week, as announced today by the RMAC.
Bacon, a sophomore from Cypress, Calif. (Oxford Academy), carded a 75 in the opening round before recording a three-under-par 69 in the final round to tie for third place at the Colorado School of Mines / Regis University Fall Invitational on Monday and Tuesday, October 12th and 13th, at Blackstone Country Club in Aurora, Colo.
Bacon, who finished the two-day, two-round event at even par (144), led the Orediggers to a runner-up finish while being named to the All-Tournament Team (top five individuals). In seven rounds played this fall, Bacon amassed 77.57 stroke average (best 18 was 69 [twice]; best 36 was 144; best 54 was 233). As a true freshman in 2008-09, Bacon finished with a 79.40 stroke average in 25 rounds played (best 18 was 72 [twice]; best 36 was 148; best 54 was 229 [twice]). Bacon also earned CSM's Bronze Academic Achievement Award (fall of 2008) during his initial season with the Orediggers.
The Colorado School of Mines / Regis University Fall Invitational marked the end of the 2009 fall season for the Orediggers.
