Knous named All-Central Region by PING

GOLDEN, Colo. - Colorado School of Mines' Jim Knous has been named to the 2008-09 NCAA Division II All-Central Region Team by PING, as announced yesterday on the Golf Coaches Association of America (CGAA) website.
Knous, a freshman from Basalt, Colo. (Basalt High School), also garnered Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Men's Golf Freshman of the Year and First Team All-RMAC honors in 2008-09.
Knous finished in the top six on the individual leaderboard in eight of 11 events in 2008-09. Knous earned medalist honors (first place) at the CSM / Regis University Fall Invitational and tied for sixth place at the RMAC Head-to-Head #1 event. Knous placed second at the RMAC Head-to-Head #2 event, tied for first place at the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) / RMAC Fall Invitational and tied for fifth place at the CSM / Nebraska-Kearney Invitational. Knous finished fourth at the Jack Brown Memorial Tournament, tied for fifth at the Oklahoma Panhandle State University Spring Invitational and tied for fourth at the UC-Colorado Springs Spring Invitational (RMAC Head-to-Head #3 event).
Knous was also ranked as high as 97th in the 2008-09 Golfstat Cup, which is that organization's list of the top 250 collegiate golfers (by scoring average) in the country. The Golfstat Cup is comprised of individuals from all divisions of competition (NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA and junior college).
Furthermore, Knous was selected to compete as the top-qualifying individual at the 2008-09 NCAA Division II West / Central Super Regional on May 4th - 6th in Lincoln, Neb. Knous, who tied for 17th place (72, 77, 70; +6) at the Super Regional, established CSM's three-round, par-71 individual program-record score (207; twice in the fall of 2008) and finished with a 72.81 stroke average in 31 rounds played during his initial season with the Orediggers.
