CSM receives votes in AFCA Pre-Season Top 25 Coaches Poll
GOLDEN, Colo. – Colorado School of Mines is listed in the receiving votes section of the AFCA NCAA Division II Pre-Season Top 25 Coaches Poll, as announced yesterday by the American Football Coaches Association.
The Orediggers narrowly missed being ranked in the AFCA Pre-Season Top 25 Coaches Poll with 87 points. CSM did, however, appear in a pair of 2011 pre-season top-25 polls earlier this summer (The Sporting News - #12, Lindy's - #15).
Mines was tied for second in the 2011 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Pre-Season Football Coaches Poll earlier this month.
CSM (9-3 overall, 8-1 RMAC) earned a share of RMAC title and qualified for the NCAA Division II playoffs in 2010. Mines landed 18 All-RMAC selections, six All-Region picks and four All-Americans last fall. CSM was ranked as high as #16 in the nation last season, and #19 in the final AFCA top 25 poll.
The Orediggers are scheduled to begin their 2011 season on Saturday, September 3rd, at William Jewell College at 12:00 p.m. (MT) at Greene Stadium in Liberty, Mo. CSM will then host South Dakota School of Mines & Technology on Saturday, September 10th, at 12:00 p.m. (MT) at Campbell Field in Golden.
