Friehauf, McGlone named to RMAC All-Time Football Team


GOLDEN, Colo. - Former Orediggers Chad Friehauf and Ed McGlone have been selected as Colorado School of Mines' representatives on the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference's All-Time Football Team, as announced today by the RMAC.

Friehauf, who played quarterback for the Orediggers from 2001-04, was the recipient of the Harlon Hill Trophy (top player in all of NCAA Division II football) following his senior campaign.  Click here for Friehauf's photo gallery.

A two-way player (defensive tackle / fullback) at Mines from 1919-22, McGlone was tabbed as the "greatest player ever produced in Colorado" by The Denver Post in 1922.

Below are the career highlights for Friehauf, who was named to the RMAC All-Time Offense, and McGlone, who earned recognition on the RMAC All-Time Defense.

CHAD FRIEHAUF
* Four-year letterwinner as a quarterback at CSM (2001-04).
* Won the Harlon Hill Trophy (top player in all of NCAA Division II) as a senior in 2004.
* Named First Team All-RMAC and RMAC Offensive Player of the Year as a senior in 2004.
* Named Honorable Mention All-RMAC in 2002 and junior 2003.
* Named Colorado Male Athlete of the Year and NFF - Player of the Year in 2004.
* Guided Mines to an 11-0 regular-season record, the RMAC Championship and CSM's first-ever NCAA Division II playoff appearance as a senior in 2004.
* Established NCAA Division II single-season records for completion percentage (74.4%), total offense (5,363) and total offensive yards per game (412.5) as a senior in 2004.
* Established single-season RMAC & NCAA Division II record for passing yards (4,646) in 2004.
* Established single-season CSM records for pass attempts (516), pass completions (384) and touchdown passes (39) as a senior in 2004.
* Established single-season CSM & RMAC record for pass completions (384) as a senior in 2004.
* Had 144 carries for 717 yards (5.0 yards per carry) and 15 TD as a senior in 2004.
* Finished his career at Mines as the school's all-time leader in pass attempts (1,183), pass completions (773), passing yards (9,873) and touchdown passes (84).
* Compiled a 22-8 win-loss record (.733) in 30 career starts at CSM.
* Earned First Team All-American accolades from the AFCA, d2football.com, Dopke.com and Don Hansen's National Football Gazette as a senior in 2004.
* Named NCAA Division II Performer of the Year by CollegeSportsReport.com as a senior in 2004.
* A Second Team All-American pick on the Associated Press Little All-American Team in 2004.
* Signed a free agent contract with the NFL's Denver Broncos in 2005.
* Appeared in one pre-season game for the Broncos (vs. the San Francisco 49ers) in 2005.
* Participated in training camp for the now-defunct Rhein Fire of NFL Europa in the spring of 2006.
* Played for the IFL's CenTex Barracudas (2006) and Odessa Roughnecks (2007).
* Competed for the CFL's Saskatchewan Roughriders (practice squad in 2007, active roster in 2008).

ED McGLONE
* Played on offense and defense for the Orediggers.
* Four-year letterwinner at CSM (1919-22).
* Three-time First Team All-RMAC selection (1920-22).
* A Walter Camp Second Team All-American as a senior in 1922.
* Inducted into the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame in 1977.
* Inducted into the NAIA Football Hall of Fame in 1968.
* Inducted into the CSM Athletics Hall of Fame in 1997.
* Member of the NAIA Helm Football Foundation.
* Called the "greatest player ever produced in Colorado" by The Denver Post in 1922.
