Regis Takes RMAC Opener On Saturday
GOLDEN - Visiting Regis University used 22 hits to take the conference-opening matchup against the Colorado School of Mines baseball team by a 20-6 final on Saturday afternoon at Jim Darden Field in Golden.
Mines (3-5, 0-1 RMAC) was led offensively by junior Charlie Basil and freshman Nate Olinger, who finished 3-for-5 and 2-for-4 at the plate, respectively.
Basil added an RBI and a run scored following a first-inning, leadoff double, while Olinger added a run scored and two RBI.
The Orediggers used five pitchers during the matchup, and were doomed by three big innings by the Rangers (6-1, 1-0 RMAC), who put up five runs in the third, four in the seventh and six in the eighth innings.
