White Out, Student Section Naming On Tap For Basketball This Weekend

GOLDEN – The Colorado School of Mines basketball teams will host Metro State in a pair of White Out games at Lockridge Arena on Friday and all fans are encouraged to wear white to the games. As part of the weekend's festivities, the winner of the Student Section Naming Contest will be announced during Saturday's matchups against Regis. 

The women’s game against Metro State on Friday is slated to begin at 6 p.m., before the No. 11 Orediggers take on the No. 3 Roadrunners in the men's contest at 8 p.m. 

Saturday's matchups against Regis will begin at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m., respectively. 

Free white t-shirts will be given to the first 700 students on Friday, beginning at 5 p.m. Students will need a valid BlasterCard to receive their t-shirt and also to get their free ticket for the games. The t-shirts can be picked up in the Student Recreation Center concourse just adjacent to the Lockridge Arena ticket office (Elm Street entrance).

Mines will also be selling 300 shirts to all fans that are not students at $10 apiece.

All Mines students, staff and Alumni are also encouraged to wear their hard hats during all games this weekend and all fans are encouraged to wear white on Friday against Metro State.     

Additionally, the Colorado School of Mines and Metro State Student-Athlete Advisory Committees (SAAC) will be doing a joint Make-A-Wish fundraiser. 

On Saturday against Regis, Mines will be revealing the Student Section Naming Contest winner as well, and t-shirts bearing the new moniker will be given to fans during the men’s basketball contest that is slated to begin at 7 p.m. The winning name will be unveiled during the under-10 minute media timeout during the first half of the men’s game.
