Stabell Earns Mines Student-Athlete Of The Week Honor

GOLDEN - In leading the No. 12 Colorado School of Mines volleyball team to a 1-1 record in the NCAA Tournament, senior Jackie Stabell has been named the Mines Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of December 3, athletic department officials announced Monday. 

A Tomball, Texas native, Stabell recorded 37 kills on a .330 attack percentage for the Orediggers during the tournament, including an average of 4.62 kills per set to earn a spot on the South Central Region All-Tournament Team.

She opened the tournament with 16 kills on a .378 attack percentage while adding four digs and two blocks defensively in Mines' 3-1 win over Colorado Christian on Thursday. 

She posted a game-high 21 kills on Friday in Mines' 3-1 loss to No. 9 West Texas A&M - the eventual region champions. During that match, Stabell posted a .294 attack percentage while adding four digs and two blocks defensively. Her 21 kills moved her into first on the all-time kill charts at Mines with 1,516 for her career - surpassing Elizabeth Serra-Hsu (2007-10 - 1,508) for tops on the all-time list. 

The RMAC Offensive Player of the Year, RMAC Academic Player of the Year and South Central Region Player of the Year and Mechanical Engineering major was also named an AVCA Second Team All-American on Monday.
