Ford Earns Mines Student-Athlete Of The Week Distinction
GOLDEN – In leading the No. 12 Colorado
School of Mines softball team to a 3-1 record over the weekend,
sophomore designated player Cassie
Ford has been named the Mines Student-Athlete of
the Week for March 18, athletic department officials announced
Monday.
Ford terrorized opponent pitching all weekend to the tune of a
.750 batting average with three home runs, two doubles, 10 RBI and
six runs scored. She slugged 1.667 over the four-game stretch while
also posting an on-base percentage of .800 for a 2.467 OPS.
She opened the weekend with a 2-for-2 effort with a home run,
three RBI and two runs scored in Mines’ 11-5 win over Regis
on Saturday before marking her signature game of the weekend with a
4-for-5 effort with two home runs, four RBI and three runs scored
in the Orediggers’ 13-10 win over Metro State later that same
day.
She also finished 3-for-3 with three RBI and a run scored in
Mines’ 9-0, five-inning win over the Roadrunners on
Sunday.
She currently leads the team in batting average (.429) and on-base
percentage (.486) while also leading the team in doubles with nine.
She is currently second on the team in homers (five) and RBI (24)
as well.
